News from the U. S. Zero Waste Business Council states that Fetzer Vineyards has received Platinum level Zero Waste certification. Platinum is the highest certification presented by the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council. Fetzer Vineyards received it because they diverted 97.7 percent of its waste from landfill, incineration and the environment.
Fetzer diverted waste by recycling, reusing and composting. They also use 100 percent renewable energy. They are a fine example of what can be accomplished when provided with the education and willingness to do what it takes to become a leader. If more companies can make it a priority to reduce their waste and consumption and achieve what Fetzer has than Zero Waste might actually become a reality in the U.S.
Remember your company can achieve 97.7 percent diversion as well. Think about your purchasing practices. Do not purchase individual bottles of water. Have a water cooler or add a filter to the faucet. Buy products that are made with recycled content.
