On Sunday, September 21st, 2014 people took to the streets to march to fight climate change. All over the United States there were marches; in New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and even here on the Central Coast. Thousands of people took part, thousands of people are wanting to be heard.
Politicians need to make a system change that will change the way we care for the planet. Fossil fuels need to be replaced with materials that will not harm the world. We want manufacturers to make products and packaging that is biodegradable, compostable or recyclable. Stop producing hazardous chemicals and waste and start thinking about the long term - about what you are producing and how it effects the earth 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 20 years from now.
There are alternative power sources that are not harmful such as solar and wind power. Use these incredible forces of nature instead of destroying them. Think outside the box, think about the consequences. The health of humans, animals and the planet depend on it!
Take a look at the damage methane, refrigerants and carbon dioxide has done. These pollutants have changed the Earth's climate. There are no quick fixes, this will be a long, slow process that we can only hope will leave the air clean for our grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hopefully things like the marches, celebrities speaking out such as Leonard Di Caprio and Ed Begley Jr., and companies that are "green" and doing the right thing will help change the way we do business. Stand up for Climate Change!
